VENDORS
Choose a team of vendors who are onboard with your mission. The more experience and knowledge they have about green event planning and resources, the easier it will be to successfully plan a green prom.
LOCATION
Find a venue that is excited to accommodate your green dreams, and is located in close proximity to the prom guests.
INVITATIONS
Set the tone for the evening with digital or eco-friendly invites.
TRANSPORTATION
Choose low-impact modes of transport, whether it means walking, hiring a rickshaw or going hybrid.
FLOWERS & DÉCOR
Think local and organic when selecting flowers, and get creative with salvaged materials for decor.
CATERING
Again, local, organic and sustainable are your buzzwords when looking for the right food and beverage caterer for prom.
SERVING
Go for rental items over disposables when possible to avoid unnecessary waste.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
First, reduce waste as much as possible. Then, recycle, compost and donate where possible, leaving that landfill trash bag feeling very light.
CARBON OFFSETS
Calculate energy utilized by the prom, from guest transportation to venue lighting, and then purchase carbon credits to offset your prom footprint.
CLEANING
Choose and promote eco-friendly cleaning services and products whether it's for your dress, the tablecloths or the venue itself.
DOING GOOD
Go green to raise environmental consciousness, but also take steps to increase social awareness. From purchasing Fair Trade products and donating leftovers to using ticket sales to raise money for non-profit organizations, use the prom as an opportunity to spread the good.
MESSAGING
Create bullet point messaging throughout the prom (on recycled content paper printed with eco-friendly inks, of course) to educate classmates on how their prom is green.
